barbsbooks's profile
Since my childhood I've been fascinated with books. I have read since the age of three. By the age of 11 I lived close enough to the library to walk there whenever I had time, and the librarian used to not notice when I had more than my allotment checked out over a period of daily visits. By the time I was a teenager, I knew that library almost as well as the people who worked there, and by the age of 17, I was working there myself --not as a page, but as a desk clerk who was allowed to help patrons find things. By the age of 19 I was offered the job of assistant branch librarian, but at that point my mother was afraid if I were making money at a full-time job I might decide to get married instead of finishing college, so my parents offered me the chance to get away to UCLA, where I had wanted to go since I had participated in a speech tournament there. I went. As my mother expected, my boyfriend and I broke up and we both wound up married to other people with whom we are still quite happy. I went on to graduate from UCLA in 1964, and then got a teaching credential and taught English for a couple of years. But I still preferred books, and quit teaching to work at Logos of Westwood, a Christian bookstore near UCLA, I loved my work there as a card buyer and hand-seller of books. Today I sell teaching materials and children's books from my website. I am also on the Board of Directors of a booksellers' cooperative on the Internet. My company name is Barb's People Builders because we sell books that help to build people up intellectually, emotionally, or spiritually, or all three. Our web site also offers some articles to help teachers and home educators with the decisions they need to make. If you are a teacher or a parent who wants to help supplement your child's education at home, I hope you'll have a look at our site. We are also available by phone or email if you have questions about our books.

I liked your comment on the intel "bread crumbs". I hate the Yellow Book and AT&T telemarketers too.
